STUDENT HOUSING
Student Housing is part of the Student Social Assistance Program of the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ), created from the National Student Assistance Program (PNAES) that was introduced by Decree No. 7.234, July 19th, 2010.
According to the decree, the student housing aims to minimize the effects of social and regional inequality, reduce retention and dropout rates, and contribute to the promotion of social inclusion of students regularly enrolled in undergraduate courses at federal institutions of higher education (IFES).
Therefore, the student housing, inaugurated in June 2014, is intended for students demonstrably enrolled in undergraduate courses, and aims to improve the permanence conditions for the socially vulnerable students. It is regulated by Resolution No. 5, dated from June 9th, 2004, and seeks to guarantee student housing for the students of the institution, offering conditions for personal and professional training, in addition to “providing solidarity and contributing to the full development of academic, sociocultural, sports, leisure, and political activities.”
